Your role
Your new role, what\’s involved?
We are seeking a Senior Transport Planner to be based out of our Manchester office. To support the delivery of our portfolio of projects with a focus on active travel, public transport, strategy development and business case support.

- Lead and manage tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team and produce high-quality outputs in line with client requirements.
- Make a positive contribution to the commercial performance of the team, with the ability to recognise key metrics and understand how individual and project team performance contributes to them.
- Comment on and contribute to our four pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Technical Excellence).
Your Team
Our Transport Planning Team sits within a wider team of over 100 transport planning professionals across the North, Midlands and Scotland. We deliver a wide range of transport planning projects for our clients, as well as an extensive portfolio of multi-disciplinary and cross-sector services, including (but not limited to): active travel solutions; public transport network planning; scheme development and appraisal; business case development and Government funding applications for all types of transport schemes; economic appraisal; carbon appraisal and management; transport strategy and policy development. You may have broad experience that spans across these areas, or you may be a specialist in one or more. We can help you to broaden your experience or deepen your specialist skill areas in line with your career aspirations. Our local and regional pipeline of work is extensive, and the successful applicant will help us to deliver a challenging and exciting pipeline of work for a range of regional clients, predominantly Combined and Local Authorities but also developers and operators.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in active travel, public transport, scheme development and/or business case development.
- Experience of developing transport-focused strategies, plans and policies.
- Experience of working with Local Authority and Combined Authority clients.
- A strong interest in the decarbonisation agenda.
- Strong project management skills, ideally developed across a broad range of multi-disciplinary projects.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to successfully deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to manage tasks and support wider team management in leading more junior members of the team.
