Overview of the Senior Structural Engineer (Maritime) position at WSP in the UK & Ireland. Based in the Port & Maritime team in the UK, you will have an opportunity to complement the wide experience of a highly knowledgeable and dynamic team of Maritime experts based in the UK and across the globe. You will work alongside senior team members delivering technical work on a range of UK-based and international projects for a variety of clients, from local authorities to private clients and international terminal operators. You will contribute to all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception through design and construction, to demolition, recycling, and reuse. You will work closely with Early Career Professionals (ECPs) in Maritime, providing guidance and leading the delivery of design calculations, technical specifications, reports, and other deliverables in accordance with Eurocodes, international standards, and client requirements. There are opportunities to travel for short periods on overseas projects. You will work in a highly inclusive and dynamic environment where collaboration, enthusiasm and empathy are valued, and you will have support to broaden your skills and knowledge with WSP.

What You Will Do:

  • Contribute to the technical delivery of a wide range of UK-based and international projects for various clients (local authorities, private clients, international terminal operators).
  • Provide input to all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception through design and construction to demolition, recycling and reuse.
  • Lead design calculations, prepare technical specifications, reports and other deliverables.
  • Work with Early Career Professionals (ECPs) to guide and support design delivery.
  • Travel for short periods for overseas projects as required.
  • Collaborate in a highly inclusive and dynamic team environment.
  • Broaden your existing skills and knowledge with support and guidance from team members.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate:

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related qualification.
  • Chartered (ICE/IStructE or equivalent) or actively working towards.
  • Experience in design and analysis for maritime and associated structures.
  • Knowledge of inspections, surveys and rehabilitation assignments.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., LUSAS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, Robot, WALLAP, TEDDS, AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to check and produce quality technical outputs and solutions.
  • Experience leading a small team or a medium-sized project within a multi-disciplinary project.
  • Proficient in MS Office software.
  • Personable, approachable, enthusiastic and empathetic.
  • Commitment to collaboration, learning and teamwork.
  • Organised, disciplined with a structured and consistent approach.
