Your Role
We are seeking a Senior or Principal ICA Engineer with a strong background in the water sector. You will contribute to all project lifecycle stages within our Water Engineering team, designing and delivering technical solutions for infrastructure projects involving Instrumentation Control & Automation (ICA). Your responsibilities include producing detailed ICA engineering deliverables, supporting tenders, concept and detailed design, and overseeing construction and commissioning processes.
- Deliver ICA design inputs for infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review ICA package deliverables such as specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, control philosophies, and user requirements.
- Review and evaluate tenders.
- Participate in project proposals, scope definition, and resource planning.
- Ensure compliance with DSEAR and ICA equipment regulations in explosive atmospheres.
- Manage inspection, testing, and commissioning of ICA equipment and installations.
- Attend factory acceptance tests for panels, PLC/HMI software, and SCADA systems.
- Mentor junior staff in ICA discipline.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
- Degree in electrical/control engineering (IET accredited) or equivalent experience.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the Engineering Council.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in ICA design for infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in preparing/reviewing ICA design packages.
- Understanding of electrical infrastructure and integration with ICA systems.
- Knowledge of DSEAR, electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres, and CDM regulations.
- Client-facing skills, diligence, and motivation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within tight schedules.
- Willingness to travel and inspect operational sites.
- Practical understanding of electrical safety systems and software tools for cable design and protection.
