Project Commercial Manager, Earth and Environment โ€“ Join to apply for the Project Commercial Manager, Earth and Environment role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership in Commercial matters; directly with clients, making business easy and WSP easy to do business with.
  • Developing Commercial best practice, process and resources (careers) in support of WSPโ€™s strategy.
  • Demonstrating the value from the Commercial Role
  • Focus and action on strategic themes of governance, risk and opportunity with all stakeholders.
  • Providing dispute resolution support to the business.
  • Be a champion for our Project First approach

About the role

Reporting to the Commercial Lead for our Earth and Environment business, the role is to provide commercial support, challenge and oversight to our Project Directors and Project Managers. Implementing commercial best practice as either an embedded project resource on major or key projects or working as a supporting resource on a portfolio of projects; checking, challenging and upskilling project delivery teams. Success in the role will be the achievement of tangible improvements in project commercial performance; delivery on time and within budget to the clientโ€™s satisfaction in a manner that maximises opportunities and revenue.

What We Are Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Experience of supporting successful delivery of design contracts for our Earth and Environment clients and Design and Build contractor partners including major, multi-disciplinary projects,
  • Have the ability, and confidence, to challenge and support senior project staff
  • Ability to explain complex commercial matters, simply
  • Understand contract financial management principles
  • Understand, and can advise technical staff, on contractual and legal considerations on built environment projects
  • Drafting of contractual correspondence
  • Pro-active engagement in risk identification, evaluation and mitigation activity.
  • Proven capability of working in a collaborative environment with a strong teamwork ethos.
  • Strong drive with sound judgement โ€“ know when to act, and when to ask.
  • Subcontractor management, including development of commercial model, procurement and post contract commercial management.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Degree qualified and/or Membership [or working towards membership] of a relevant professional body is preferable (MICE/MRICS/MCIOB)
  • Significant relevant experience within a similar role.
  • Experienced in the use of standard forms of contract particularly NEC.
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal in person and virtually
  • Experience of working within a corporate governance framework, and the ability to advise others on itโ€™s practical application.
