Role context
Our Development team specialises in providing sustainable development infrastructure solutions from planning, through to full implementation. We provide advice to private and public sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Public Realm, Sewerage, SUDS, Building Drainage, Earthworks, Flood Protection and Utilities Coordination/Diversion on Residential, Retail, Industrial, Commercial, Educational and Healthcare Developments in the UK. The team also works closely with other WSP disciplines on high profile major multi-disciplinary projects. All staff are encouraged and assisted to progress their training towards EngTech, IEng or CEng status with the ICE, IHT, CIWEM or equivalent organisations; and staff will benefit from internal and external training opportunities provided.
Role responsibilities
- Working out of the WSP Leeds office, located in the heart of the city, with easy access to the nearby train station, food outlets and open green spaces
- Working within multidisciplinary teams to maintain existing and develop new client relationships – winning work
- Working closely with a diverse range of Clients to help deliver complex and demanding schemes
- Successfully bidding, winning and delivering schemes on budget
- Ensuring a high standard of work and information is provided to clients
- Providing an experienced senior point of contact for clients on key projects
- Mentoring team members
- Making a demonstrable contribution to the company’s turnover and profitability
- Quality service and professional reputation
- Commercially aware and efficient at problem solving
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
- Chartered Engineer or open/working towards Chartered Engineer status
- Civil Engineering Degree, or equivalent qualification
- Experience delivering utility connections, diversions and utility infrastructure strategies for small, medium and large schemes in the UK
- Understanding of requirements of Electricity, Gas, Water, and Telecommunications networks owners
- Experience of Multi-utility / iDNO / ICP offerings would be beneficial
- Ability to develop utility demand calculations based on the needs of a Development
- Project experience of large multi-disciplinary infrastructure schemes
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and effectively manage time
- Working knowledge of BIM standards and protocols
- Excellent communication skills to engage with co-professionals and deliver high quality reports
- AutoCAD / Civils 3D or similar software with 2D drawing and 3D modelling capability
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Technical and commercial understanding of the industry
- Ability to communicate technical detail effectively and networking skills
- Must be able to obtain UK Vetting level Security Check (SC)
