WSP is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy Transition Team across the UK & Ireland. Location Flexible across our UK office network.

In This Role You Will Be:

  • Working with the project team to develop cost‑effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Working on projects at various stages: Feasibility Studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering, Detailed Design.
  • Preparing mechanical deliverables—calculations, equipment specifications and datasheets for turbines, compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers.
  • Collaborating with process engineers on process flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
  • Supporting development of plant layouts and 3‑D models.
  • Working with equipment vendors to develop designs and evaluate vendor designs.
  • Providing engineering advice and technical solutions regarding plant integrity issues on operational assets.
  • Developing proposals and bids for the mechanical discipline and contributing to multi‑disciplinary proposals.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate:

  • Degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and membership of a relevant institute.
  • Post‑graduate experience in Power Generation or Oil & Gas.
  • Knowledge of national and international design codes and standards for plant equipment and piping.
  • Experience in pressure vessel and piping design and stress analysis.
  • Experience working with mechanical designers and pipe‑stress engineers on 3‑D models.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel for schedules and datasheets, MathCAD for engineering calculations.
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem‑solving thermal plant operational and integrity issues.
