Overview

Principal Groundwater Modeller and Project Manager role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. Role involves leading technical delivery and project management for groundwater modelling within the Catchment Science team of the Sustainable Water Management Consulting group.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the technical delivery of projects covering all aspects of water resources hydrogeology, with a specific focus on regional groundwater modelling.
  • Project management including financial and change control and quality assurance through checking and reviewing.
  • Mentoring, developing and supervising junior colleagues with opportunities for formal People Management.
  • Working with the Hydrogeology and Groundwater Services Lead to develop and agree scopes of services.
  • Generating high quality bid proposals and developing innovative solutions to meet client needs.
  • Producing high quality client- and public-facing deliverables with clear communication and ability to present complex data visually and verbally.
  • Collaborating with other sectors to deliver hydrogeological components of varied projects.
  • Maintaining a safety-first attitude in line with WSP\’s health and safety policy.

What we will be looking for

  • Groundwater and Water Resources modelling to support water resource estimation, management, and environmental impact assessment.
  • Strong understanding of UK hydrogeology and the environmental/regulatory framework of UK water management.
  • Strong project management skills with end-to-end project delivery experience.
  • Understanding of client needs and track record of leading and winning work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience identifying and developing business opportunities and preparing winning proposals.
  • Excellent report-writing, technical review, numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • MSc Hydrogeology combined with a BSc in a related discipline (e.g. geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, environmental science).
  • Gained or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.
