A Little More About Your Role… Our Development Planning team is seeking a Principal Development Planner to join our growing integrated Development team in Basingstoke. Your role will include working on projects spanning commercial, retail, and residential sectors, developing transport strategies, supporting Local Development Framework Representations, and providing Expert Witness evidence. We assist private sector clients in navigating the planning process and support public sector clients with transport and parking strategies, business cases, and scheme development. The team collaborates closely with Highways, Services, Structures, and Environmental teams to lead larger multi-disciplinary development proposals. You will lead the technical transport planning input into development projects, manage project delivery, and mentor Early Career Professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading transport planning for small to medium projects
  • Assisting in complex multi-disciplinary project delivery
  • Growing your professional network for business development

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

  • Experience leading technical work such as Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategies, parking strategies, and active travel provision, with familiarity with NPPF, DfT guidelines, and Manual for Streets.
  • Expertise in preparing traffic flow information for Transport Assessments and Environmental Statements.
  • Proficiency in junction capacity modelling software like Junctions 10 and Linsig, understanding inputs, outputs, and scenario testing.
  • Experience in project management, including budgeting, resource planning, and invoicing on small to medium projects.
  • Ability to supervise conceptual junction designs (priority, roundabout, signals).
  • Strong communication skills to lead discussions with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to share knowledge and mentor colleagues, especially Early Career Professionals.
  • Proficiency in software such as Excel and Word.
  • Growing professional network of co-professionals and clients.
  • Significant post-graduate experience as an Engineer/Transport Planner, with a goal of achieving Chartered status in a transport-related discipline.
