What you will do:

  • Provide leadership on a range of urban drainage projects; know the standards and how to apply them, but recognise when a different solution is required.
  • Support the team lead in managing project delivery, including supervision of tasks and review of deliverables.
  • Develop the urban drainage modelling capability in the team, staying at the forefront of latest developments, and provide training and development support to more junior team members.
  • Provide technical input on urban drainage projects and support the wastewater team in delivering current and future projects; help influence future delivery approaches.
  • Apply your technical skills to projects of local and national importance and continue developing technical quality and service efficiency.
  • Exercise independent engineering judgement and provide innovative solutions; be a proactive and collaborative team member.
  • Lead people by growing and developing a high-performing team, providing line management and mentorship to maximise career development.
  • Develop and maintain excellent client relationships at all levels; coordinate and facilitate project meetings internally and with clients.
  • Develop and submit successful proposals to bring work into the team, through existing frameworks and new client relationships.
  • Promote the WSP brand through appropriate industry forums and conferences.
  • Contribute to the learning of the wider team through knowledge sharing exercises.

Your team:

  • Associate within the WSP Urban Drainage team; support the leadership team in shaping ongoing development; team comprises engineers and hydraulic modellers with diverse experience; services projects across WSP’s client base.
  • Work as part of a dynamic and award-winning water team within a wider network of professionals; opportunities to shape the direction of a high-performing team.
  • We work across an expanding portfolio with Regulated Water Clients including Northern Ireland Water, Irish Water, Severn Trent, Scottish Water Horizons, Welsh Water and Southern Water.
  • As an Associate, there is the potential to progress to Associate Director and beyond, combining technical and industry knowledge with leadership to develop others.

What we would like you to demonstrate:

  • A relevant degree and chartered status, or significant progression toward ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM.
  • Clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and ability to check the technical outputs of others prior to issue.
  • Good working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems, and relevant British Standards.
