Responsibilities
- Managing RAM processes according to sector standards (e.g. EN 50126) and performing activities such as planning, analysing, verifying, reporting.
- Leading the RAM team to deliver planned activities and managing subcontractors.
- Cross‑functional collaboration and integration, including stakeholder management.
- Leveraging knowledge to support bids, advisory, strategic decisions and client relationships.
- Mentoring junior RAM team members and acting as the focal point for technical expertise.
- Encouraging innovation and implementation of new techniques and tools to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Promoting the WSP brand through industry engagement and professional engineering institutions, including participation in councils, committees, working groups and presenting papers at conferences.
Qualifications
- A degree in a technical engineering related discipline or extensive relevant experience.
- RAM engineering experience (rail desirable but not essential).
- Corporate membership with an appropriate professional institution (e.g. SaRS, IET, IMechE).
- Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (or significant progression toward that goal).
- Proven ability to deliver RAM activities and provide technical leadership to a team of RAM and Safety Engineers.
- Proven ability to support RAM and Safety engineering activities and/or create supporting arguments and evidence.
- Proven ability to liaise with regulatory and independent parties/bodies.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in applying the EN 50126 series.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for multi‑disciplined teamwork.
- Knowledge and experience in a mainline or metro railway system (e.g. signalling, control systems, rolling stock, traction power, depots).
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working on international projects.
- Experience in other sectors (e.g. aviation, nuclear, oil & gas, defence).
- Mix experience in consultancy and supplier/clients‑side environment.
