A Little More About Your Role… As a Principal Clean Water Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and guidance to a team in the delivery of a variety of clean water modelling and network analysis projects, ensuring accurate and efficient project delivery for internal and external clients. The role will enable you to further develop and use your technical skills, applying your expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.

A typical week would include (but not be limited to):

  • Leading technical delivery and providing technical guidance to the project team;
  • Client liaison and report preparation;
  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals within current frameworks and the development of additional clients;
  • Training and mentoring of staff, especially more junior staff;
  • Developing and maintaining project related health and safety strategies, including risk assessments;
  • Operating in accordance with the corporate health and safety, environment and quality standards and ensuring the project team comply with such standards.

You will work as part of an award-winning water team within a larger team of over 600 professionals across the UK, supported by our Global Water Team. We are currently engaged with an expanding portfolio of clients, including Severn Trent Water, Northern Ireland Water, Welsh Water, Southern Water, Wessex Water, United Utilities, Uisce Éireann, Southern Water, and Scottish Water Horizons. What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

  • A relevant degree and professionally qualified with membership of an applicable institution, ICE/CIWEM or international equivalent;
  • Significant experience in network modelling and analysis encompassing emerging technologies specifically optimizer software;
  • Undertaken detailed analysis of water supply networks and have led modelling teams for projects and studies including the following typical activities and deliverables:
  • Analysis of data to evaluate the performance of existing assets in order to develop site condition reports;
  • Ensuring that safety issues are fully considered within projects via CDM 2015;
  • Ensuring technical excellence in modelling outputs to design;
  • Co-ordination of a design to ensure good interface with all other disciplines;
  • Participation in design reviews and technical audits;
  • Input into multi-discipline design programmes;
  • Integration with other technical disciplines in the delivery of multi-disciplinary project activities;
  • Leading technical meetings and discussions with client engineers, suppliers and regulators;
  • Contributing to design delivery processes to maintain change & cost control;
  • Supporting/generating cost and manhours estimates for proposals, studies and projects;
  • Acting as Lead modelling engineer on selected projects controlling design, specifications, costs, hours, quality and programme;
  • Keeping up to date with developments in the CW modelling sector, from a technical and legislative perspective and seeking out opportunities to develop a strong professional profile at a National level (make technical presentations internally, to clients and at conferences);
  • Developing the strength of the expertise within the modelling and wider engineering teams.
