A Little More About Your Role… This role is to lead the growth strategy for the WSP Ground and Water team and work with the wider business. The Ground and Water Growth Lead will provide visible leadership and direction to drive the business development activity aligned to the Ground and Water Strategy and revenue targets.

The Ground and Water Growth Lead will report directly to the Ground and Water Service Line Director and work with the leadership team to drive strategic growth objectives:

  • Drive growth in the business via the Ground and Water Sector Leads.
  • Build strategic relationships with key clients and track strategic opportunities.
  • Lead on complex bids.
  • Represent WSP at business development events and raise the Ground and Water team’s profile.
  • Build internal business relationships and strengthen existing links across the WSP business.
  • Lead projects both technically and commercially, typically in a Project Director capacity and personal technical areas.
  • Develop and implement the Business Development Plan for Ground and Water, in conjunction with the Service Line Director, Service Team Leads and Sector Leads.

Working With Key Ground And Water Team Stakeholders:

  • Prioritise accounts and sectors to align to required revenue targets and allocate appropriate Key Client Interface to drive new/emerging account growth.
  • Pipeline Health & Reporting – Take an active role in the assessment of the discipline pipeline, assessing key performance and health indicators and supporting the dissemination of best practice in the management of the sales pipeline and improvement of pipeline quality.
  • Lead and upskill the team to develop their client development skills, encouraging them to build strong trusted-advisor relationships with external clients and internal clients across all business lines.
  • Develop and implement Business Development reporting and communication structures.
  • Support Key Client Interfaces to ensure Business Development activities are being implemented effectively, including account planning and management, client engagement, support and work with the WSP Proposal Management Team from capture planning to bid delivery in developing high-quality winning bids.
  • Be responsible for developing a Communications and Marketing Plan (for BD activities only), including planning and approvals for budgets for events, thought leadership, competitions, etc.
  • Be responsible for developing collateral so that Ground and Water have high quality market-facing material to support client engagement.
  • Oversee client engagement to ensure it is undertaken across all existing and emerging key accounts.
  • Promote and drive client feedback from our clients in the sector and, where required, support key client leads in understanding and resolving client care issues.
  • Measure progress across agreed KPIs, adopting a data-driven approach.

Be a safety leader; promote wellbeing, fairness and inclusion. Work collaboratively with the wider business, visibly supporting and proactively engaging with Leadership initiatives. Proactively support other Leadership Team members; where you identify issues or opportunities outside the scope of your role, make sure these are communicated effectively. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Ground and Water service offering, and have a good working knowledge of Earth and Environment Services as a whole. Proactively represent Ground and Water across the WSP business and externally. Help create a positive and engaging Ground and Water team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant technical degree (chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, or environmental science)
  • Working towards / be prepared to work towards Chartership / Professional Qualification (e.g. QP) with a relevant institution
  • The ability to travel
