A Little More About Your Role… WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Engineer to join the Roads team based in Newcastle. You’ll be working alongside a host of talented people ranging from our early‑career professionals to established engineers and project managers working across the Roads business to improve the local and strategic networks. Working in partnership with National Highways and Local Authority clients across the region you could find yourself immersed in a diverse range of projects including active travel, digital design (including 3D modelling), strategic network improvements, major and minor maintenance, alignment, road safety as well as public realm.
The role will offer an interesting and varied workload – from major strategic highways projects such as Smart Motorways through to a diverse range of small and medium local authority highways infrastructure improvement schemes. Your role will be at the heart of our high performing team, using your technical skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.
In This Role You Will Be Responsible For:
- The delivery of road projects and services for Central Government Authorities, Local Authorities and other public/private sector clients.
- Supporting Senior Engineer/Team Leader with the development of designs using Civil3D and AutoCAD.
- Liaison with stakeholders including landowners and updating consultation management database systems.
- Assisting the Team Leader guiding, supervising and directing junior team members in technical and project management matters to ensure the effective delivery of projects whilst aiding the technical/professional development of the team.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate:
- Relevant Engineering qualification and relevant post‑qualification experience.
- Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
- Member of an appropriate Institution.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision, or as part of a larger delivery team, on complex projects in a CAD/BIM environment.
- Adept in the use of AutoCAD and aptitude to further develop in Civils3D/GIS including the use of BIM.
- Experience of dealing with stakeholders including landowners and ability to record all consultations.
- Accurate record keeping and excellent attention to detail.
