The predicted salary is between 28800 - 48000 ÂŁ per year.

Design a range of Technical Protection & Control solutions for EHV substation projects, including both AIS & GIS substations at voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV. You may be based in Newcastle, Stockton-on-Tees, Leeds or Manchester, but you must travel to UK client offices and sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a comprehensive suite of protection and control system design drawings for 11kV up to and including 132kV systems.
  • Develop new protection solutions to meet the requirement of a future smart grid.
  • Integrate protection and SCADA systems to deliver cost-effective design solutions.
  • Create all associated Engineering Design calculations and documentation.
  • Support the creation of all necessary equipment specifications.
  • Visit sites to assess project requirements.
  • Attend site meetings and provide ongoing design drawing changes/support as required during project build.
  • Review designs produced by suppliers and clients to ensure they are technically compliant and meet current legislation and policies.

Key Qualifications

  • HNC Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in the design of protection and control schemes.
  • Knowledge of electrical networks and engineering standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation relating to design.
  • Experience with main suppliers’ products of substation control equipment (e.g., ABB, Hitachi, Siemens, GE).
  • Experience with standard protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 60870.
  • Full driving licence.
