You'll be joining WSP’s expanding UK wide Engagement and Consultation team of 60 plus professionals, where you’ll play a meaningful role in shaping how major projects connect with communities. Working on some of the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes—as well as projects across the water, health, energy and environmental sectors—you’ll help deliver engagement that is thoughtful, impactful and built on best practice. As part of our Planning and Consents business unit, you’ll contribute to public consultation and stakeholder engagement activities. You’ll also collaborate closely with colleagues across WSP, helping to create clear, engaging communications that bring projects to life and ensure a positive experience for the communities we work with.
We are looking for Engagement, communications and consultation professionals across all levels of experience to support our team in the UK, based from any of WSP’s UK offices. We have an exciting portfolio of projects which span a number of sectors including road, rail, water, environment and energy. This is a great opportunity to grow your engagement expertise while working on high‑profile projects in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Help communities and stakeholders understand projects and how they may impact them by delivering accessible consultation and communications activities that stand up to scrutiny and comply with any relevant public or planning regime‑led guidelines.
- Give people opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback through publishing communications, organising events and running consultations that shape client decision making.
- Present feedback to help projects develop in a responsible way by understanding and interpreting data and presenting themes and key issues in reporting.
- Support clients based around the UK and internationally by providing communication and engagement advice and activities such as developing engagement and consultation strategies and materials such as posters, banners, public facing maps and community engagement events.
- Manage projects ensuring that your timeline, budget and resources deliver for your client.
- Have either a degree or comparable professional experience in a relevant field. Membership of a relevant professional or trade body is welcomed but not essential.
- Experience in one or more of the following sectors: roads, rail, utilities, water, environment, or energy.
- Experience contributing to or leading engagement activities on multi‑disciplinary projects, which may include:
- Supporting or developing stakeholder engagement approaches.
- Delivering or assisting with consultations.
- Analysing qualitative or quantitative data.
- Contributing to reports that meet legislative or regulatory requirements.
- Enjoy collaborating with others and be comfortable working independently when required.
- Have a thoughtful, organised approach to work and can adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Pay close attention to detail and take pride in producing high‑quality work.
- Communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and verbally.
- Bring curiosity, motivation, and an interest in developing your career within communications and engagement.
