About the Role

WSP is one of the UK’s largest land services consultancies. This senior leadership role will deliver land referencing, acquisition, valuation, compulsory purchase and landowner engagement across the UK and Ireland. The position can be based in any UK office with hybrid flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical and business development across all projects.
  • Drive delivery of the land business strategy and action plans.
  • Provide strategic consultancy advice and be a trusted partner.
  • Manage and lead project teams through statutory land acquisition and complex negotiations.
  • Advice on statutory powers and acquisition strategies for infrastructure and land assembly projects.
  • Day‑to‑day management of teams, quality outputs and technical standards.
  • Secure team workload, resource allocation and budgeted productivity targets.
  • Mentor and develop team members through training and professional development.

What We Look For

  • Experience in Transport, Energy and Water infrastructure development.
  • Experience in compulsory acquisition projects using CPO/DCO/TWAO powers.
  • Proven track record in managing and delivering land‑related services with team leadership.
  • Demonstrable experience reducing land risk and advising clients throughout project lifecycle.
  • Strong influencing, negotiating, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of training and mentoring team members and professional qualification.
  • Negotiating with land owners and knowledge of legal acquisition processes.
  • Experience managing and settling voluntary and compulsory purchase compensation claims.
  • Desirable knowledge of urban and rural environments.
  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
