Join our Bridges team to design, strengthen and assess bridge structures for highway and rail projects across the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Bridge design
- Bridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments
- Provide general civil and structural engineering support to other teams
- Prepare documents, reports, health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs, drawings, and feasibility studies
- Check drawings and supervise CAD technicians
Qualifications
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
- Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, strengthening or assessment
- Project management experience
- Working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) or Network Rail Standards
- Experience with Eurocodes and their application to bridge design
- Experience with steel, reinforced or prestressed concrete bridge structures
- Experience using grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress, SAM
- Strong communication, client handling and interpersonal skills, willingness to adapt to new challenges and mentor junior members
Team & Working Conditions
The Bridges team works on highway and rail bridge engineering for clients including local authorities, contractors, private developers and public‑sector clients. The role is predominantly office‑based, with occasional travel for site visits, inspections or meetings. Professional growth opportunities include training, mentoring and chartership.
