Join WSP in the UK & Ireland as a Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD). You will act as the lead designer on major projects across various industry sectors, liaising between the project lead and WSP's engineering and specialist teams.

YOUR ROLE, WHAT'S INVOLVED?

  • Act as the Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer on major projects, representing the Design Management team.
  • Develop and manage the BRPD strategy and processes within WSP, delivering future‐facing solutions across a range of projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers and specialists on high‐risk and non‐high‐risk buildings to deliver the BRPD processes and solutions.
  • Oversee design aspects of projects, ensuring objectives are met and deliverables meet the highest standards while aligning with the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coordination to the design team, guiding projects from inception to completion.

OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development of BRPD strategies, implementing processes that align with project goals and client requirements.
  • Manage the BRPD process, ensuring coordination with all stakeholders.
  • Track, evaluate, and report project progress, representing the design team at high‐level review meetings.
  • Coordinate the resolution of risks and issues at the project and design level across all stakeholders.
  • Define, organise, and implement project set‐up and mobilisation.
  • Coordinate with design consultants and other project stakeholders.
  • Manage the development of project briefs, scopes of work, and design schedules.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary design workshops to demonstrate competency and compliance with BRPD requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices to maintain quality and safety.
  • Oversee preparation of design and construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Assist in completion and handover of the project, ensuring all design deliverables are provided.
  • Support bids and opportunities.

  • Design Management team specialising in large, complex, multi‐disciplinary property and building projects.
  • Reporting to a Technical Director/Director, with opportunities for career development and influence over the team's direction.
  • Collaboration across sectors to broaden experience and enhance team capabilities.

  • Role reports to a senior leader within WSP UK Property and Buildings.

WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • Engineering, Architectural or Design Management degree.
  • Chartership, professional accreditation, or close to achieving either.
  • Experience acting as a client‐facing design manager or technical lead in large, complex projects.
  • Familiarity with all RIBA design stages, especially Stages 1 to 3 and planning submissions.
  • A highly organised, proactive individual.
  • Collaborative attitude and effective communication skills with all stakeholders.
  • Experience with large multi‐disciplinary projects preferred.
  • Interest in innovation and developing new solutions.
