WSP’s Liveable Places team is growing, and we are now seeking an Associate or Principal Engineer to join our Road Safety Team in London. The role is based at Westferry Circus, Canary Wharf and is offered in a hybrid working environment with a mix of in‑office, site and home working. The position is suited to an experienced Road Safety Engineer or Auditor with project management skills who wants to make a positive difference within the field of Road Safety.

In this role you will conduct and coordinate Road Safety Audits and lead on Collision Studies, Road Safety Research, Vision Zero Projects and Transport / Urban Design planning projects.

Responsibilities
  • Undertaking Road Safety Audits (RSAs) as Team Leader
  • Managing Vision Zero/Road Safety projects, including analysing collision data, designing road safety schemes, and delivering strategies and action plans based on the Safe System approach.
  • Winning work: producing proposals for RSAs, Road Safety / Vision Zero and other Transport/Urban Planning projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing reports, drawings, schedules and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance.
  • Managing project finances, programmes and deliverables.
  • Working in collaboration with clients and other WSP teams.
  • Supporting a wide range of projects suited to your skills and experience.
  • Working collaboratively with the Liveable Places team, transport colleagues and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Qualified Road Safety Auditor status, in accordance with DMRB GG 119, with experience leading teams.
  • Expert knowledge of Road Safety, mitigation techniques and collision data analysis.
  • Experience with Vision Zero and the Safe System approach.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience of mentoring and/or line management.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads and maintain service levels.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
