We are looking for an experienced Associate Waste Water Process Engineer to join our Water Engineering teams located in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle or Glasgow. You will work within multidisciplinary project design teams, delivering process engineering design for wastewater and water reuse projects across the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce Process Design deliverables: optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, basis of design reports, etc.
  • Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design.
  • Attend site visits for data acquisition and meet site operators.
  • Provide technical input to the procurement process.
  • Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients.
  • Engage with technology providers and vendors.
  • Attend HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT sessions.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and supervision of junior staff.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects, delivering work within cost, time and quality expectations and ensuring integration of Process Engineering requirements.
  • Contribute input to proposals, work scope, schedule and budgets.
  • Maintain liaison with the client to ensure their needs are met.
Qualifications
  • A Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or MSc (or equivalent).
  • Professional registration as CEng or working towards chartership within 12 months.
Skills & Experience
  • Significant experience delivering process engineering design on infrastructure projects, including leading the process engineering role or major tasks.
  • Experience in the municipal water industry.
  • Ability to work largely unsupervised preparing and reviewing process design package deliverables such as technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, control philosophies, P&IDs, mass balances and procurement documentation.
  • Experience delivering feasibility, concept designs, FEED and detail design for wastewater treatment solutions (primary, secondary, tertiary – filtration, clarification, chemical dosing, P removal, ASP, MBBR, MBR, advanced biological treatments).
  • Understanding of circular economy, zero liquid discharge, emerging tertiary treatments in municipal and industrial sectors.
  • Experience in a consultancy or engineering company acting as Process Engineer.
  • Proven ability to prepare high‐quality technical reports and deliver verbal presentations to various audiences.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage in professional verbal communication and presentations to colleagues, clients and sub‐contractors.
  • Experience leading multi‐disciplinary meetings online and face‐to‐face, acting as the organisational technical representative with external clients.
  • Willingness to travel to operational works and construction sites as required, assessed safely for existing and new process performance.
