About the Role
Our Rail Operations Performance and Modelling team continues to grow, and we are looking for a Rail Modelling and Simulation Analyst with experience in Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and a strong interest in developing capability using AnyLogic within the rail sector.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the development and application of AnyLogic rail simulation models, contributing to discrete event simulation, visualisation and analytical outputs under the guidance of senior team members.
- Contributing to the development of clear, engaging visual outputs that help communicate complex rail operational scenarios and performance outcomes.
- Assisting in the preparation of model inputs through data analysis, cleansing and validation, working closely with project teams and clients to understand assumptions and requirements.
- Supporting project delivery activities, including defined elements of technical delivery, documentation and quality assurance in line with WSP processes.
- Assisting with the production of professional-quality reports, presentations and proposals, ensuring outputs are accurate, well-structured and clearly communicated.
- Working collaboratively with UK and India-based team members, contributing to a positive team culture and effective knowledge sharing.
- Actively engaging in learning and development opportunities, including training, mentoring and on-the-job experience, to build capability in AnyLogic and rail-specific simulation approaches.
- Supporting lessons-learned activities and knowledge sharing within the team, adopting and applying established good practice in modelling and analysis.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with simulation, analytical or data analysis tools, with experience or exposure to AnyLogic essential.
- A logical, structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to analyse information and apply sound reasoning to technical challenges.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for developing technical skills, with a proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement.
- The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, adapting your style to suit different audiences.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial / Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline.
