A Little More About Your Role

  • We are Design Managers in the Major Project Services team, covering large and complex projects across cultural, healthcare, and mission‑critical sectors.
  • Reporting to a Technical Director or Director, you will develop the Design Management discipline, lead teams, and represent your sector of interest.
  • Act as Senior Design Manager on major projects across different industry sectors.
  • Develop and lead design strategies, ensuring alignment with project goals and client requirements.
  • Oversee design aspects, ensuring deliverables meet the highest standards.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coordination to the design team from inception to handover.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage programme delivery, and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Resolve risks and issues, and implement project set‑up and mobilisation plans.
  • Manage design briefs, scopes of work, and schedules; facilitate interdisciplinary workshops.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain quality and safety throughout the design process.
  • Assist in handover of the project to the client, ensuring all deliverables are provided.
  • Support bids and opportunities.

What We Will Be Looking For

  • Engineering, Architectural, or Design Management degree.
  • Chartership, professional accreditation or close to achieving one.
  • Experience as a client‑facing design manager or technical lead on large or complex projects.
  • Familiarity with all RIBA design stages, including Stages 1–3 and planning submissions.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and collaborative with strong communication skills.
  • Interest in innovation and developing new design management solutions.
  • Deep experience as a designer in a consultancy before moving into design management.
  • Experience leading multi‑disciplinary design teams on large, complex projects.
  • Experience in highly technical sectors such as healthcare, mission critical, or data centres.
  • Experience working with or running international design teams across multiple geographies.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance.
