Offshore Wind Consultant (Energy) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. The Offshore Wind Engineering Consultant is a key position within the Energy business focused on driving success across offshore wind projects and growth across the business in new or existing areas. The role requires understanding of offshore wind, its components and related technology, a consultancy and engineering mindset, leadership and collaboration skills, and the ability to manage small projects and stakeholders. The focus is on technical due diligence and technical advisory, collaborating with internal teams.

What you will do

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage offshore wind consultancy projects ensuring they meet technical, financial, and regulatory standards.
  • Client Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the offshore wind sector, contributing to the growth of the consultancy and engineering functions. Represent the company in industry discussions.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply a strong level of industry technical knowledge across offshore wind project development from advisory to operations. Support consultancy projects as a subject matter expert and technical lead, or as a project member.
  • Operational Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and environmental teams.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

  • Experience: Considerable experience in the renewable energy sector, with significant offshore wind project experience, preferably with an established consultancy.
  • Technical consultancy: Track record in offshore wind consultancy including feasibility analysis, site selection, supply chain studies, technology assessments, wind farm design, energy yield assessments, business case analysis, DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX estimates, technical due diligence or lenders technical advisory.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of offshore wind industry standards.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications with a relevant industry body.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, suppliers and the industry.
  • Network: An established network in the offshore wind industry.
  • People management: Demonstrated people management skills coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Travel: Experience in budget management and reporting; ability to travel, including possible international travel.
