About the role
We are looking for an Associate or Associate Director to join our Transport and Mobility Planning Team. This role offers flexibility across WSP home offices: Birmingham, Cardiff, Southampton, Manchester, Leeds or London, with a hybrid work model combining office and remote work.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical management and take commercial responsibility for DCO/NSIP programmes and projects; coordinate new proposals.
- Contribute to medium/long-term trend forecasts that inform business strategy and support investment decisions.
- Lead cross‑discipline collaboration, enhancing connectivity throughout the UK and beyond.
- Take personal responsibility for well‑being, health and safety, acting as a role model for direct reports and project staff.
- Keep up to date with relevant standards and policies; raise the WSP profile by networking and attending conferences as required.
Qualifications
- Experience managing and coordinating all aspects of transport assessments and strategies for major and complex projects.
- Experience delivering multi‑disciplinary projects and engaging large teams in hybrid/virtual environments.
- Experience engaging stakeholders including local highway authorities, planning inspectorate, DfT, other transport bodies and the public.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, negotiation, collaboration and organisational skills.
- Strong numerical, spatial and analytical skills; excellent knowledge of MS Office.
- Excellent knowledge of current transport policy at sub‑regional, regional and national levels and planning consent processes.
