Our Railway Engineering Services business is seeking a Health and Safety, CDM Specialist to work across our portfolio of projects as a vital element of our multi-disciplinary project teams delivering a huge range of complex infrastructure for clients including High Speed 2, Network Rail, TfL and local authorities.
Your Role
Your role will be to provide safety leadership, SHEQ, CDM guidance and support to our multi-disciplinary project teams on some of the most significant infrastructure projects in a generation. You’ll support the development, implementation and adoption of SHEQ, CDM management systems and contract strategies. You’ll naturally focus on project and commercial risk, balanced with the need to satisfy client, staff and business operational performance. Where necessary you will also lead, manage and respond to audits in line with ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.

Whilst the role is Rail Engineering focussed, it requires an individual with proven skills and experience across rail and wider related industries. You’ll also have a strong awareness of wider business operations in a health and safety context including commercial management; people management; application of corporate systems; business development; recruitment and staff development.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
- Certified Member of Association of Project Safety (CMaPS) or Member of International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM).
- NEBOSH certification.
- A good working knowledge or qualifications in auditing of OSHAS 18001 / ISO 45001 and other Health and Safety standards.
- A proven track record of health and safety leadership across a wide range of rail, transport and other infrastructure projects for government and private sector clients through the entire design and construction cycle.
- Detailed experience of the health and safety activities during the design, delivery and procurement of multi-disciplinary engineering projects and programmes in the UK. This will include sound stakeholder management and related relationship and team management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of H&S legislation, CDM requirements, Safe by Design principles and Railway safety to an appropriate level for this stage of work.
