A Little More About Your Role… In this role, you will lead and deliver Project Development (from concept to construction start) for all forms of Thermal Power Generation (CCGT, OCGT, Engine Based and Repower Projects) with involvement from the client side operations and maintenance teams on an asset, to advising owners and investors of asset portfolios as they make critical decisions in the development of their current or future assets. You will lead or support the delivery of thermal power projects across a range of geographies. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will also assess the technical and commercial risks of projects and advise clients on how to best manage those risks to deliver successful projects.

You Will Collaborate With The Team To:

  • Lead and develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Deliver projects in a variety of lifecycle stages from Concept, through Development, Construction and Commissioning, Operation, and into Life-Extension and Retirement.
  • Work with owners, operators and investors to independently assess the performance and configuration of assets including gas and steam turbines, boilers and associated auxiliary equipment for their capability, risk, and opportunities.
  • Advise on asset related contracts including Construction, Operations and Maintenance, Connection and Long Term Service Support.
  • Identify and assess issues that may cause degradation or failure in plant performance and condition.
  • Prepare specifications and tender documents.
  • Author technical notes and reports, working collaboratively with your colleagues where applicable, for all stakeholders.
  • Lead, advise and negotiate on all matters that are technical in nature.
  • Develop multi-disciplinary proposals and bids for the Energy Business.

You Should Have a Good Working Understanding Of:

  • Existing and current engineering practices used in the thermal power generation industry.
  • The concept of integrated solutions and applicability to the technologies being considered, including current and future legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • The workings of legal and commercial frameworks that will be used to wrap around the technical solution.

Your Team: Our team’s expertise covers all Energy Transition generation and conversion technologies including novel, first of a kind concepts and other low or zero carbon technology. Working together with private developers, power utilities, government bodies, banks, lending agencies, contractors and OEMs we safely deliver projects whilst meeting and exceeding client expectations. Our teams are tactically placed in the UK, India, Ireland and wider Europe. We work internationally with our clients and other Energy sector teams in North America, Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

  • Degree qualification in relevant Engineering subject supported with significant post graduate experience in some or all of engineering consultancy, project development, operation and maintenance.
  • Chartered Engineer and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
  • The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the assessment of assets under development, construction or in operation.
  • Knowledge of EPC and LTSA arrangements for power generation projects.
  • A willingness to travel to client sites and other regional WSP offices to support our projects.
