A Little More About Your Role

To provide expert consultancy and leadership for a team managing health and life sciences infrastructure projects across the UK. Your role focuses on overseeing and delivering the planning, delivery and implementation of significant health and life science capital projects to a range of clients both within the public and private sector. You will oversee a growing team and report into the senior leadership team within the organisation.

You Will Be

  • Leading and managing technical complexity, multi‑stakeholder construction projects throughout all RIBA stages, ensuring they are delivering benefits within the agreed quality, time and budget objectives.
  • Building strong relationships across our clients and with external partners to manage interdependencies and deliver their objectives.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure technical assurance, planning and business case preparation activities are fully implemented.
  • Developing and maintaining project plans and determining the appropriate delivery methodology.
  • Setting project controls, managing performance and reporting progress to stakeholders.
  • Managing the performance of supply chain partners, collating and reporting on key performance measures and escalating where required.
  • Timely drafting and submission of individual client deliverables, which may include option appraisals, feasibility reports, business cases, routine reporting and board papers.
  • Developing and implementing team growth strategies to realise our team growth objectives, in support of WSP’s business plan.
  • Providing effective leadership, mentoring, management and support growth within the team.
  • Managing profitability of the projects and ensuring team utilisation is at target levels.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • The individual holds a built environment Bachelors or Masters degree, together with Chartered or Full Membership of an appropriate professional institution within the built environment, including RICS, APM, RIBA or CIOB.
  • Comprehensive track record of managing and delivering construction infrastructure in health, life sciences or public sector environments with tangible, quantified benefits through the entire project lifecycle.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of governance, assurance, planning, budget management, risk and issue management and change control in a construction infrastructure project delivery environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of contract and commercial management, including managing contractual claims and contractual variations.
  • Use of NEC3/4 forms of contracts and contract remedies is preferable.
  • Experience of a senior leadership role within a Project & Programme Management consultancy or advisory organisation is preferred.
  • Management and development of a high performing team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholder interests.
