At WSP, you will join the Client Engineering & Advisory Services group within the UK Rail team. We provide systemic, integrated rail solutions that are user‑focused, operationally driven, and commercially sound. The Strategy & Feasibility team develops early‑stage railway requirements into fundable projects, working with public and private sector clients on new stations, freight facilities, and new rail services.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic rail advice to external and internal clients.
- Coordinate multi‑disciplinary projects and often act as central coordinating lead.
- Develop rail‑focused service offerings in light rail, freight, or local authorities.
- Plan, manage, and deliver tasks that contribute to large projects; may also lead project delivery and bidding for new work.
- Engage with clients and build networks both externally and internally to solve problems and generate new work.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in light rail, freight, or local authority transport; understanding of related legislation and funding processes.
- Knowledge across rail areas: operational planning, strategic planning, business case development, engineering feasibility.
- Ability to think strategically, see the big picture while attending to details.
- Career‑focused, proactive, collaborative professional style.
- Consultancy skills: business development and bidding.
- Organisation and project management skills; stakeholder management; team leadership.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Professional qualification or working towards one.
