Position within WSP in the UK & Ireland. This role focuses on supporting town planning and consenting for major and nationally significant infrastructure projects across sectors such as energy, renewables, water, rail, and aviation.

In this role you will work within multidisciplinary teams to secure consent and approvals for major infrastructure projects via the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Planning Act 2008, Transport and Works Act Order, and other regimes. You will coordinate submissions, negotiate with statutory bodies and stakeholders, and provide technical advice to clients to meet their consenting requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Manage or lead aspects of town planning or consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects (DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs, etc.).
  • Provide technical advice to clients and manage their consenting requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of consent applications.
  • Support negotiations with statutory bodies and stakeholders on behalf of clients.
  • Lead engagement with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical oversight.
  • Actively support and contribute to achievement, building positive relationships within project and discipline teams.
  • Proactively develop your knowledge and skills to enhance the team’s knowledge base.
  • Apply project finance and management knowledge, ideally within a consultancy environment.
  • Line‑manage or mentor colleagues in their work and project delivery roles.
Qualifications
  • Degree in town planning or equivalent.
  • Member of the RTPI.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams to secure consents for major or nationally significant infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Planning Act 2008, Transport and Works Act Order, and other relevant legislation.
  • Experience with Planning (Wales) Act 2015, Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act, or Electricity Act.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
