Overview


Civil Design Engineer (Energy) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. You will work in the UK Energy business as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering the power transmission infrastructure that will deliver Net Zero to the UK Energy System. WSP has a significant workload and opportunities to develop yourself and others over the next decade.



Responsibilities


As a Civil Design Engineer within the UK Energy business, you will be responsible for delivering civil design within a multidisciplinary team to support power transmission infrastructure projects.



  • Design civil infrastructure for transmission and distribution projects, including substations, transmission towers, and underground cable systems.

  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit.

  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather data for civil design purposes.

  • Perform technical calculations and analyses to ensure the structural integrity and durability of civil infrastructure.

  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations and environmental guidelines.

  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers and construction teams to integrate civil design requirements into project plans.

  • Review and approve design modifications and provide technical support during construction.

  • Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in civil engineering design and technology.



What we will be looking for you to demonstrate



  • A degree in Civil Engineering

  • Extensive experience in foundation design, preferably in the power transmission and distribution space

  • Detailed working knowledge of British codes and standards used within the Power sector

  • Experience with CAD software such as Revit and AutoCAD

  • Experience delivering detailed design packages

  • Experience working with clients and contractors with diverse objectives in achieving a technical solution

  • Preferred – Chartered engineer status or progressing towards it

  • Preferred – National Grid BP141 Authorisation
