Your role will be at the heart of a high performing team, using your technical skills and expertise to deliver exemplary services to clients across a diverse range of sectors, clients and projects through all stages of the project life cycle. You could work on a variety of projects including strategic network improvements, major and minor highway maintenance and asset renewals, active travel and public transport infrastructure, road safety interventions, and public realm initiatives. Our client base includes Welsh Government, Transport for Wales, North & Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent, South Wales Trunk Road Agent, and Welsh local authorities.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering solutions for projects, or work packages of varying scale, complexity, value and project stages, and manage multiple projects concurrently as needed.
- Ensure projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements, taking an active or supported role depending on experience.
- Work collaboratively with clients, key stakeholders and internal disciplines.
- Support Project and Technical Delivery Leads in planning, programming, and pricing of proposals and deliverables.
- Provide guidance and support to a team of experienced and developing technical staff of various grades.
Qualifications & What We Will Be Looking For
- A passion for design and developing innovative solutions, with initiative and ingenuity to solve engineering problems.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or suitable equivalent.
- Working towards IEng or CEng with demonstrable progress.
- Knowledge and experience of highway design at various stages of the project life cycle. Areas of experience such as highway geometry, active travel, public transport, highway drainage, road restraint systems, pavements, traffic signs and road markings, and utilities are advantageous.
- Knowledge of relevant design standards and codes of best practice (e.g., Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, Active Travel Act (Wales) Guidance, Local Authority design guidance).
- Experience in preparing reports and drawings for transport studies or construction projects.
- Ability to use or direct the use of software such as Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage, Causeway and/or PDS.
- Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM regulations.
