A Little More About Your Role… In this role, you will be responsible for leading and delivering some of the most challenging and rewarding projects within the WSP Energy Transition business. We are delivering some of the world’s most important projects to support the Net Zero transition, from conventional Thermal Generation plant to innovative low carbon energy and fuels projects. The Major Projects team leads those projects at all stages of the project lifecycle where stewardship from early client engagement through to delivery and handover helps to build long‑term client relationships. The ability to pick up and manage a portfolio of projects and activities at any stage is therefore a key aspect of the role.

Core Activities Will Include:

  • Acting as Project Manager on high‑profile projects within our portfolio and providing leadership across multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Regular and proactive engagement with the Client and other delivery partners to promote efficient and appropriate approach and progress.
  • Ensuring project deliverables meet and exceed client expectations and KPIs in respect of safety, CSR, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Ensuring projects deliver expected operational targets and supporting the delivery of the Energy Transition team’s P&L.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with corporate governance requirements, and liaising with our various operations and commercial teams to deliver best practice.
  • Ensuring competent technical and commercial resources are secured for projects.

Our Team: Our team’s expertise covers all Energy Transition generation and conversion technologies including power generation, novel first‑of‑a‑kind concepts and other low or zero carbon technology. Working together with private developers, power utilities, government bodies, banks, lending agencies, contractors and OEMs we safely deliver projects whilst meeting and exceeding client expectations. Our teams are tactically placed in the UK, India, Ireland and wider Europe. We work internationally with our clients and other Energy sector teams in North America, Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. The Energy Transition team provides services to Clients from inception through development, construction, operation, and decommissioning.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in relevant Engineering subject supported with significant post graduate experience in Engineering Project Management, design and or operation, maintenance and testing.
  • Chartered Engineer and a member of relevant Engineering Institute.
  • Significant experience of leading multi‑disciplinary consultancy teams in the convention and renewable Energy sector.
  • Outstanding client focus and a commitment to problem solving in a collaborative way.
  • Knowledge of the design and construction of power and energy projects, particularly relating to thermal generation (CCGT, OCGT and recip engines).
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and work with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and offer win‑win solutions.
  • Ability to travel within the UK and overseas, as required by the projects.
