A little more about your role… In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering some of the most challenging and rewarding projects within the WSP Energy Transition business. We are delivering some of the world’s most important Renewables projects at all stages of the project lifecycle where stewardship from early client engagement through to delivery and handover helps to build long‑term client relationships. The ability to pick up and support a portfolio of projects and activities at any stage is therefore a key aspect of the role. This also supports our assistant project managers to grow under the guidance and supervision of seasoned project managers, as well as deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients alongside our engineering and operational teams.
Core Activities
- Acting as Assistant Project Manager on projects within our portfolio.
- Regular and proactive engagement with the client and other delivery partners to promote an efficient and appropriate approach and progress.
- Ensuring project deliverables meet and exceed client expectations and KPIs in respect of safety, CSR, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Ensuring projects deliver expected operational targets which will support the delivery of the Energy Transition team’s P&L.
- Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with corporate governance requirements and liaising with our various operations and commercial teams to deliver best practice.
- Ensuring competent technical and commercial resources are secured for projects.
Team
Our team’s expertise covers all renewable energy generation technologies. Working together with private developers, power utilities, government bodies, banks, lending agencies, contractors and OEMs, we safely deliver projects whilst meeting and exceeding client expectations. Our teams are tactically placed in the UK, India, Ireland and wider Europe. We work internationally with our clients and other energy sector teams in North America, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. The Energy Transition team provides services to clients from inception through development, construction, operation, and decommissioning. An approach that sees us support our clients over the entire lifecycle of a project.
Qualifications
- Degree qualification (or equivalent) in relevant engineering subject supported with postgraduate experience in engineering project management, design and/or operation, maintenance and testing.
- Site based project engineering experience in Renewables, ideally Solar, Wind or BESS.
- Outstanding client focus and a commitment to problem solving in a collaborative way.
- Knowledge of the design and construction of power and energy projects.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and work with people at all levels of an organisation.
- Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and offer win‑win solutions.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas, as required by the projects.
