About the role
We will work alongside a team of early career professionals and established engineers and project managers across the Roads business, based in the London & South East region (Cambridge, London (Westferry Circus), Basingstoke, Guildford, Southampton). Partner with National Highways on the SDF contract delivering highways‑based projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB).
- Develop designs using AutoCAD, Civil3D, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Key Signs, Key Lines.
- Deliver work packages with scope to move up to managing schemes and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Provide support to Project Managers with planning, programming, technical input for pricing of project briefs, proposals, deliverables and cost estimation.
- Be accountable for self‑checking and certifying designs, documents, approvals, and reports.
- Develop, support and mentor graduate engineers and technicians to deliver work packages and coordinate engineering resources.
- Mentor and upskill junior staff to develop professionally and progress toward professional qualifications.
- Work collaboratively with clients and key stakeholders as necessary to deliver schemes/projects.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent within a highway design role.
- Working towards IEng or CEng status with a professional institute; professional qualifications advantageous.
- Highways design experience in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
- Experience complying with Designers Duties under CDM.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, PDS Signs, PDS Lines, Key Signs, Key Lines.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislations, standards and procedures.
- NEC experience is advantageous.
- Passion for design and developing innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems.
