A Little More About Your Role
The WSP Civil Services team is seeking a CAD Manager to be part of this established and experienced team working on exciting large-scale, national and international projects. Due to recent successes, the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities. You will form part of an existing team to deliver airfield, maritime and pavement design and maintenance projects for a number of clients both in the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will work closely with the wider engineering team to develop and deliver projects through various stages of design from feasibility/option studies to detailed design and onto construction.
- You will be responsible for leading our CAD Technicians in the production of quality engineering drawings as well as 2D and 3D CAD models, quality checking our output to ensure the team maintains a consistent and high standard for deliverables throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Mentor team members and be the source of information on this topic for the Engineering Managers.
- Extensive industry experience of working on civil design projects, ideally in the airports, highway/pavement, or maritime sectors.
- Experience in 2D modelling, design coordination and delivery using a range of Autodesk software packages (specifically Civil 3D, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Navisworks) on civils and aviation projects.
- Strong ability in engineering drawing preparation and construction detailing.
- Ability to challenge and contribute to engineering detailing.
- Experience working with CDE platforms such as Bentley ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
- Actively participate in the design and provide input to the design team throughout the design process.
- Reviewing drawings to ensure compliance with in-house and client drafting standards.
- Maintain and develop in-house drafting standards.
- Deliver training/mentoring and guidance to develop skills in the production of deliverables and model creation.
- Ensuring that delivery is achieved in accordance with the company’s management systems including CAD/BIM Standards, Health and Safety, project and risk management.
- Review, contribute and implement to our modelling delivery process.
- Working knowledge of BIM standards such as PAS 1192 and BS EN ISO 19650.
- Implement the technical quality requirements, address the project brief and meet client deadlines.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable and experienced in Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D modelling of civil infrastructure projects and ideally have previous experience in either Airport, Highway/Pavement or Maritime sectors.
Minimum Requirements
- Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD CAD software.
- Proficient in the production of high-quality Engineering Drawings.
- Good experience and working knowledge of Civil 3D modelling software.
- Proficient in the use of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and in defining and managing workflows.
- Previous experience in either Airport, Highway/Pavement or Maritime sectors.
- Detail-oriented and highly organised.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to technical and non-technical audience.
- Experience in defining and managing team training or developing team members in CAD software packages and drawing quality.
