Design & Development Tasks
- Design and develop cable systems for power distribution and transmission.
- Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications using CYMCAP, AutoCAD and CableCAD.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather data for cable system design.
- Perform technical calculations and analysis to ensure electrical and mechanical performance.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams and stakeholders to integrate design requirements.
- Review and approve design modifications and provide technical support during installation.
- Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in cable technology and design practices.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering.
- Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for HVAC and HVDC projects, including HV cable system design and ratings with CYMCAP.
- Understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies and documentation.
- Experience witnessing third‑party cable activities such as test, installation, transport etc.
- Experience with Working Groups and Technical Committees such as CIGRE and IEEE.
- Capability to travel to projects occasionally.
- Preferable – Attained or working towards chartered engineer status.
- Preferable – National Grid BP141 Authorisation.
