Design & Development Tasks

  • Design and develop cable systems for power distribution and transmission.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications using CYMCAP, AutoCAD and CableCAD.
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather data for cable system design.
  • Perform technical calculations and analysis to ensure electrical and mechanical performance.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams and stakeholders to integrate design requirements.
  • Review and approve design modifications and provide technical support during installation.
  • Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in cable technology and design practices.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering.
  • Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for HVAC and HVDC projects, including HV cable system design and ratings with CYMCAP.
  • Understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies and documentation.
  • Experience witnessing third‑party cable activities such as test, installation, transport etc.
  • Experience with Working Groups and Technical Committees such as CIGRE and IEEE.
  • Capability to travel to projects occasionally.
  • Preferable – Attained or working towards chartered engineer status.
  • Preferable – National Grid BP141 Authorisation.
