In the UK, our Building Structures team has been successfully delivering capital national infrastructure projects in the Energy sector—particularly within Transmission and Distribution—since the early 1990s. A Little More About Your Role…
As a Technical Director you will take a senior leadership role in the delivery of structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects. These include Transmission and Distribution networks, Overhead Line (OHL) systems, power stations, and other critical energy assets. You will be responsible for leading project teams, managing client relationships, and driving technical excellence and innovation across our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
- Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
- Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
- Support the development of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

We’re looking for an experienced leader with a strong technical foundation and a passion for infrastructure.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body.
- Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
Ideally, Experience In One Or More Of The Following
- Substations
- Transmission and Distribution infrastructure
- Overhead Line (OHL) projects
- Power stations
- Petrochemical facilities
Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams. Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
