WSP is looking for experienced Principal or Associate Geotechnical Engineers or Engineering Geologists across the UK. These roles are available on full‑time or part‑time bases.
Responsibilities
- Develop professional and technically competent reports and liaise with specialists and clients across a wide range of sectors, using efficient working practices to provide industry‑leading, best‑value services.
- Effectively manage and deliver project work with robust project financial management.
- Assist in the management of team resources and appropriate allocation of project resources.
- Manage, motivate, mentor and develop professional staff.
- Provide support in all aspects of project delivery including client liaison, contractors and sub‑consultants, statutory body consultation, quality control and specialist management.
Qualifications
- Technical expertise in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology with a demonstrable understanding of the underlying principles of either discipline.
- Consultancy experience with good commercial awareness and relationships with clients and contractors.
- Chartered professional qualification and significant post‑qualification experience.
- Experience delivering geotechnical, engineering geology and other ground engineering projects, including high‑technical report preparation.
- Understanding of client requirements and ability to influence contract specifications.
- Experience leading delivery teams for short to medium term projects from inception to construction.
- Excellent report‑writing and client liaison skills.
- Proven experience undertaking and managing desk studies, designing, procuring and supervising Ground Investigations (GIs), checking GI Reports and Geotechnical Design Reports in accordance with Eurocode 7 Part 1.
- Working knowledge of Eurocode 7 and UK annex design codes, ground investigation and construction contracts and specifications.
- Familiarity with and ability to interrogate a wide range of geotechnical software for civil engineering design including deep and shallow foundations, embedded and gravity retaining walls, earthworks / slope stability and reinforced earthworks.
- Skill to critically evaluate others’ work (drawings, calculations or reports) and a proven track record of doing so.
