Your Team

  • Bristol Office: 25 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers and sustainability consultants as part of the National MEP Team of nearly 400 engineers. Strong forward workload with an order book stretching into the middle of next year. Growing opportunities for medium‑term career progression. Collaborative environment with like‑minded individuals on exciting and challenging projects. Professional standards and ethics form the core of our practice. Bristol office location: easily accessible via Bristol Temple Meads Train Station (10‑minute walk) and short walk to Bristol City Centre.

Role Summary

Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record in projects within the discipline. Work using personal initiative and limited supervision across all technical aspects. Interpret project needs under direction of discipline lead or client. Consider discipline‑specific feasibility of projects. Produce detailed design and performance specifications for review and issue. Provide multidisciplinary design and technical advice across a wide range of projects. Contribute to detailed design programme and ensure sufficient resources.

Key Technical Requirements

  • Proven understanding of UK and European regulations applicable to the discipline.
  • UK vetting level Security Check (SC) required.
  • Working knowledge of latest mechanical design software (Revit MEP, other 3D design tools).
  • Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Part L regulations and ability to perform calculations.
  • Experience with TAS or IES for project allocation and direction.

Mechanical Design Skills

  • Hevacomp usage.
  • U‑value, heat loss & gain calculations.
  • Pipe, pump, duct, and fan sizing (LTHW, CHW, HWS, CWS, etc.).
  • Psychrometric analysis.
  • Control valve sizing and authority.
  • Thermal modelling.
  • BMS system familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Accredited honours degree in Engineering (CIBSE, IET, IMechE) or applicable experience leading to chartership.
  • IES or TAS training applicable to the discipline.
  • RevitMEP training applicable to the discipline.
  • Achievement or working towards IEng or CEng status.
  • BEng/BSc/MEng in applicable engineering discipline.
