WSP’s Infrastructure Planning team is seeking a Senior Consultant to support town planning and consenting for major infrastructure projects across sectors. The role involves leading consents under UK planning legislation and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the town planning and consenting process for large infrastructure projects including DCOs, DNSs and TWAOs.
- Provide technical advice to clients, coordinating application preparation and submission under relevant UK planning acts.
- Support negotiations with statutory bodies and stakeholders, representing client interests.
- Deliver technical oversight to cross‑disciplinary project teams.
- Act as line manager and mentor junior colleagues.
- Contribute to internal knowledge base and development of team capabilities.
- Maintain awareness of project finances and management practices.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in town planning or equivalent.
- Member of the RTPI.
- Demonstrated experience of securing consents for major UK infrastructure projects under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Planning Act 2008, Transport and Works Act Order, and other relevant regimes.
- Experience of working within multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver consents.
- Strong technical knowledge of planning legislation and best practice.
- Experience of line management or mentoring in a consulting environment.
