Senior Engineer - Fire Engineering in Birmingham

Responsibilities

• Managing multiple projects—ranging from a university in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London—ensuring innovative architectural design meets strict fire safety requirements.
• Reviewing design information.
• Liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures.
• Presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service.
• Advising the design team on safety improvements.
• Participating in software training, fire standards updates, and client briefings.
• Attending social events and fostering team cohesion.

Professional Development

We support your registration with IFE and other professional organisations. The bespoke programme covers:

• Technical report writing.
• Team‑specific technical skills.
• Project management (introduction and advanced).

Qualifications

You should have:

• A BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent degree.
• Experience within the fire engineering consulting industry.
• Flexibility to work from any of our UK major offices.
