This role has a strong external focus, combining technical leadership with commercial acumen. You will support and lead bids, shape client propositions, and act as a senior technical interface for clients. You will work collaboratively across WSP’s multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated, practical and commercially robust decarbonisation solutions.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading and contributing to bids and proposals, including development of win strategies, technical inputs, and client presentations.
- Acting as Technical Lead or Project Director on energy decarbonisation and electrification projects.
- Providing technical leadership and quality assurance across studies, reports, and client deliverables.
- Advising clients on site decarbonisation and electrification strategies, including pathway development, option appraisal, and implementation planning.
- Leading and delivering energy modelling to support decarbonisation, electrification, and investment decision-making.
- Supporting clients in navigating the complexities of electricity connections, capacity constraints, and grid engagement.
- Advising on energy procurement strategies and the interaction between procurement, decarbonisation, and operational resilience.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, supporting repeat business and long‑term account growth.
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members, promoting a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Working closely with colleagues across Energy Advisory and other WSP disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:
- Significant experience in energy decarbonisation advisory, with a strong focus on site decarbonisation and electrification.
- Experience working with complex energy users such as data centres, ports, airports, or similarly energy‑intensive assets.
- Understanding of and, ideally, capability in energy and decarbonisation modelling, with the ability to translate technical outputs into clear client insights.
- A solid understanding of power systems, connections processes, and constraints including latest and ongoing policy developments (power engineering background desirable but not essential).
- Experience advising on or supporting energy procurement strategies.
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery and contribute to project and commercial success.
- Experience supporting or leading bids and business development activities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset and a desire to support the development of others.
