A Little More About Your Role

You will join a highly collaborative team in Norwich. We are looking to recruit a motivated Assistant Bridge Engineer to join our consultancy bridges and highways structures team. This is a varied role involved in delivering design, assessment, and inspection projects for our client in Norfolk. You will work on projects ranging from minor maintenance schemes to major bridge design and strengthening works, offering opportunities for career growth and professional development.

Your Team

Skills

All our engineers take on project responsibility from the outset, owning their projects from conception to construction. Your role will be central to our high-performing team, contributing to technical quality and service efficiency. Responsibilities include:

  • Based in Norwich, working in partnership with Norfolk County Council (NCC).
  • Assisting in the design and analysis of highway structures, using Eurocodes and DMRB standards.
  • Supporting the production of bridge assessments and feasibility studies.
  • Participating in inspections and preparing technical reports.
  • Preparing drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Supporting tender preparation and bid development.
  • Liaising with clients and stakeholders to deliver projects to programme and budget.
  • Delivering compliant designs on time and within budget, meeting health & safety, CDM, QA, and technical review requirements.
  • Attending site to gather information and supervise schemes.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Knowledge of bridge/structural engineering principles and design codes (e.g., Eurocodes, DMRB, BD standards).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Knowledge in design, maintenance, and supervision of bridge-related projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, structural analysis/design packages).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Construction Design and Management 2015 and associated duties.
  • Opportunity to work under a training agreement and progress towards Incorporated and Chartered Status with a recognised engineering body.
  • Full UK driving licence (or willingness to obtain).
