Overview
As Technical Director, you will shape WSP’s nuclear capabilities by leading engagement with reactor vendors, developers and government partners to secure and deliver SMR programmes. You’ll couple strategic leadership with nuclear sector know-how to navigate procurement, governance and delivery challenges, driving growth across civil and defence projects. You’ll build senior relationships, lead bids, and steer cross‑functional teams to deliver complex programmes. This is a pivotal growth role at a global engineering leader with a strong UK focus.

Responsibilities
- Lead development and growth of WSP's SMR portfolio with external partners and stakeholders
- Forge and manage strategic relationships with senior client stakeholders as trusted adviser
- Shape and lead bids for major nuclear opportunities, influencing strategy and market growth
- Advise on procurement, commercial and delivery models to align with objectives and regulations
- Lead supplier engagement, market testing and supply chain development
- Support procurement strategy, contract awards and programme mobilisation
- Provide strategic leadership during programme development, governance and delivery planning
- Advise on programme risk, readiness, capabilities, and delivery strategies
- Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering integrated nuclear infrastructure solutions
- Represent WSP as a senior industry leader, promoting technical excellence and growth
Key requirements
- Significant experience supporting major nuclear infrastructure or nationally significant programmes
- Strong understanding of procurement, mobilisation and delivery in regulated environments
- Experience with reactor developers, operators, government bodies or major clients
- Proven track record in business development, work winning and account leadership
- Strong understanding of the emerging UK SMR market
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments
- Ability to influence executive-level decision making and strategy
- Chartered professional or equivalent industry standing
- SC Clearance or ability to achieve it
