Overview
In this role you will lead bridge and highway structure projects, from feasibility through detailed design, supporting tendering, inspections, and project delivery. You’ll work within the Shropshire Alliance to deliver infrastructure improvements and asset management that benefit local communities. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll drive technical excellence, safety, and innovation while mentoring others. Responsibilities
- Lead bridge maintenance and renewal designs from investigation to detailed design
- Support tender activity, site inspections, construction supervision and structural assessment
- Conduct inspections in line with DMRB and Highway Structures manuals
- Provide technical input to project briefs, proposals and deliverables with Project Managers
- Check, certify and authorize designs, documents, and AIP submissions
- Manage delivery of technical outputs across project teams
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, welfare and CDM requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and delivery partners
- Contribute to technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement
- Provide line management and mentoring where appropriate
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent
- Membership of a professional body with CEng or IEng status, or progress towards submission
- Experience as a Structural Engineer focused on bridges and highway structures
- Proven track record leading or delivering complex engineering projects
- Strong technical, communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Collaborative approach with a commitment to innovation and quality
- UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship consideration on a case-by-case basis
