Overview
In this role, you join WSP’s UK Engagement team to shape how major projects connect with communities. You will advise clients and coordinate engagement across the Planning and Consents unit, delivering thoughtful communications and stakeholder engagement. You’ll work with cross-functional teams on infrastructure programmes across transport, water, energy, and environment, driving meaningful public involvement. The role offers the chance to influence project outcomes and community understanding while developing in a collaborative, world-spanning consultancy.
Responsibilities
- Draft and deliver stakeholder engagement strategies to support UK infrastructure projects
- Create accessible communications to explain project impacts to communities
- Publish communications, organize events, and run surveys to gather feedback
- Interpret data and present themes to inform project development
- Provide UK and international client support with engagement activities and materials
- Develop virtual consultation rooms, posters, banners, and public-facing maps
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver effective communication and engagement
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to meet client needs
Key requirements
- Experience delivering communications and stakeholder engagement on complex infrastructure projects, ideally in a consultancy
- Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) with relevant experience in communications, engagement, or a related advisory role
- Sector experience in transport, utilities, water, environment, or energy is desirable
- Collaborative team player
- Stakeholder management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in developing engagement materials and reports
- Proficiency in creating and managing public-facing communications (maps, posters, banners)
- Ability to run surveys and virtual consultation rooms
