As demand for offshore infrastructure continues to grow across the Oil & Gas sector, we are seeking an accomplished Principal Offshore Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical leadership, strengthen client relationships, and lead the delivery of complex offshore geotechnical projects.

As a Principal Offshore Geotechnical Engineer you’ll: Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across offshore geotechnical engineering projects within the Oil & Gas sector.

Lead the planning, specification, management and execution of offshore geotechnical site investigations, including offshore vessel campaigns, sampling and laboratory testing programmes.

Direct the processing, interpretation and integration of geotechnical, geological and geophysical datasets to develop robust offshore ground models.

Lead geotechnical design and assessment of offshore foundations including piled foundations, suction caissons, suction anchors, drag anchors, gravity-based foundations and mudmats.

Provide specialist geotechnical input for subsea pipelines, flowlines, umbilicals and cable developments, including seabed interaction, embedment and stability assessments.

Act as Project Manager and/or Technical Lead for major offshore projects, ensuring delivery to scope, budget and schedule.

Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, proposals, presentations and client deliverables.

Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for business growth and project expansion.

Mentor and develop junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence initiatives across the business.

Promote a strong culture of safety, quality and collaboration and champion Safety in Design principles.

Participate in company development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of WSP’s offshore geotechnical capability.

What you’ll bring: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline (Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded).

Extensive experience in offshore geotechnical engineering, ideally gained within consulting environments supporting Oil & Gas developments.

Demonstrated experience leading offshore geotechnical investigations and site characterisation programmes.

Strong technical expertise in offshore foundation design, soil-structure interaction and subsea infrastructure assessments.

Knowledge of relevant offshore industry standards and recommended practices including API, ISO and DNV frameworks.

A proven track record delivering complex multidisciplinary projects on time and within budget.

Excellent client engagement, stakeholder management and business development skills.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Experience mentoring engineers and leading high-performing project teams.

Future-minded, strategic and collaborative, with a commitment to innovation and technical excellence.

Willingness and ability to undertake occasional offshore assignments as required.
