As an Associate/Senior Associate Consultant at WSP, you lead hazardous materials and occupational hygiene projects for major clients, driving compliance and risk reduction. Responsibilities
- Lead hazardous materials assessments (asbestos, lead, PCBs, and related substances) from survey to remediation and clearance
- Provide occupational hygiene guidance including exposure assessment and risk management for chemical, biological, and physical hazards
- Oversee development and implementation of hazardous materials management plans and monitoring programs
- Ensure compliance with Australian legislation, codes of practice, and standards
- Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and client communications
- Mentor and guide consultants and junior staff to foster professional growth
- Nurture client relationships and contribute to business development and tender submissions
- Stay updated on industry developments and technology trends in hazardous materials and occupational hygiene
Key requirements
- Typically 8+ years in hazardous materials management and occupational hygiene consulting
- Proven expertise in surveys, risk assessments, and remediation projects
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian/state regulations, codes of practice, standards
- Ability to manage complex projects, deliver high-quality reports, meet client expectations
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Professional membership or certification (e.g., AIOH, COH, Licensed Asbestos Assessor) is highly regarded
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel
