The Operations & Safety (O&S) group of II provides high value advisory services enabling the delivery of sustainable and safe operating solutions for public and private sector clients in support of both Net Zero carbon and Vision Zero safety objectives.

The O&S group specialises in six technical areas:

  • Operational safety - helping clients understand and mitigate safety risks in designs, operations and technologies.
  • Transport network operations - helping clients focus on development and assessment of operational models / concepts and associated standards and procedures.
  • Human centred design - applying the evidence-based principles of human factors, ergonomics and behavioural science to design environments, systems, products and services.
  • Strategy development - advise clients on the creation of sustainable, resilient and people focused strategies using business cases and innovation techniques.
  • Policy monitoring and evaluation - providing specialist multi-discipline monitoring and evaluation, in line with Treasury requirements, through the design and execution of monitoring and evaluation framework.
  • Tunnel systems & operations - support clients in the design, operation and management of tunnels in the highway and utility sectors.

We are seeking enthusiastic consultants of all levels to provide support to our capabilities above. We also have a number of specific current vacancies open.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • A technical background with relevant qualifications (degree, or similar higher education qualification) in any of the technical areas listed above.
  • Experience in working on high-quality consultancy-style projects aligned with one of the six technical areas described above.
  • A proven ability to analyse and interpret information from various sources and communicate your findings effectively.
  • Experience working either as a client, consultant or contractor, ideally within a transport, public sector, or high-risk environment.
