In this role you will act as a technical lead on complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects, guiding ground models, analyses, and design solutions. You will manage project delivery, client relationships, and technical mentorship to advance the geotechnical business. You’ll champion innovation, sustainability, and digital delivery while collaborating across disciplines on major infrastructure to drive significant impact. Responsibilities
- serve as technical lead on complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects
- lead development of ground models, assessments, and design deliverables
- perform and review advanced geotechnical analysis for foundations, earthworks, slopes, and related assets
- manage project delivery including programme, commercial performance, QA, and risk
- lead client relationships and support business development
- plan and oversee ground investigations and data interpretation for design/construction
- provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engineers/geologists
- support bidding and tender submissions with methodologies and resources
- promote innovation, sustainability, and digital delivery across teams
- collaborate across disciplines, regions, and sectors for integrated solutions
- provide leadership, line management, coaching, and succession planning
- work with senior leaders on strategy, workload planning, recruitment, and growth of geotechnical business
Key requirements
- strong technical background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, and ground risk management
- significant experience in geotechnical design, analysis and interpretation across sectors and ground conditions
- ability to lead technical delivery and manage project risks with QA for outputs
- strong commercial awareness with project management and fee control experience
- excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- experience leading ground investigation programmes and oversight during construction
- track record in business development and client growth strategies
- mentoring and developing junior team members
- Chartered status with ICE/Geological Society or progress towards chartership
